Situated five miles from Newquay, Crantock is a small, quiet village, naturally bordered by the River Gannel and its sweeping coastal estuary. The area is renowned for its natural beauty, with the headland at West Pentire a designated Site of Special Scientific Interest.
The village is a perfect place to unwind and enjoy the quieter side of the north Cornish coast, as well as being an excellent base for exploring the rest of the county. There are many National Trust properties nearby, as well as traditional pubs and outstanding restaurants. Enjoy fantastic walks along the spectacular coastal path; continue around the headland from Crantock beach, towards the smaller Polly or Porth Joke and take in the wonderful scenery and abundant wildlife. From the wildflowers showcasing their vibrant colours in the Spring and Summer, to the seals who love to sunbathe in the aptly named Seal Cove, there is much to see on this stunning stretch of coastline.
Perhaps learn to surf or paddle board at the local surf school, which has equipment available to hire daily during the summer months. From deckchairs and windbreaks to paddle boards and kayaks, there is plenty available for activities on the lifeguard patrolled beach. The nearby, bustling resort of Newquay has a variety of attractions such as the Sea Life Centre, Newquay Zoo and many, many stunning beaches. Or perhaps travel a little further afield for wonderful days out at the Eden Project, the Minack Theatre or St Michael's Mount.
